Re: Piercing "S" sounds

one of my settings which is bringing it out.

Very high noise reduction settings can do that.

If you're in Audacity 2.2.2, what were the three Noise Reduction settings? (assuming that's it).

Re: No "Mono" option for each track

I've tried all these options including vocal reduction and isolation and vocal remover neither work for me. If your original work is mono or mono transcoded into stereo, no tools will do anything. The tools work by having a difference between left and right sound. In mono, there is no left and righ...

Re: Processing many mp3's

And just when it looks like things are going well.... Audacity doesn't edit (or equalize) MP3. It sucks them into its own super high quality internal format and then makes fresh new MP3s when you're done. In other words, it doubles the MP3 compression distortion. If your source MP3s were already rig...

Re: podcasting trouble - compression???

It could be argued you should all be in mono. That would be the difference between 600M and 300M. He's sending half the data for his mono show. You got 2/3 lucky. That one recorder may be running slightly off speed. You can easily correct this in Audacity. Figure out the difference between the two s...

Re: Backing up my projects

Zip is an archive file format. It's a way to turn a pile of oddball files and folders into one single file for the purpose of shipping and storage. Attached is one of the methods of installing Audacity as an example. All the needed files and folders are inside the single Zip file. Screen Shot 2018-0...

Re: Recording an audio Discord call on Windows

There is another way to do this depending on your show configuration. It's not particularly difficult to record the local microphone, so you get each host to record their own microphone and ship the WAV sound files to you for mixdown into a final show. Skype distortion, echo cancellation and audio d...

I'm not joshing. This is an engineering test Denise and I did. It's a plain Skype connection. I'm in California and Denise is in New Jersey.

Remember, it's a hardware test.

Re: Recording an audio Discord call on Windows

If it was simple, you'd be doing it by now. Chat applications are two different devices and Audacity can only deal with one device at a time. This is notoriously difficult and there is no simple, reliable, published solution—at least in Audacity. There are people who turn their machines on, push a f...

Re: Backing up my projects

4.7GB? That's a Data DVD. You should be careful about that. You only get the rated capacity when you have one big file. The more files, the more housekeeping and the smaller the disk. Are you backing up your Projects? I think the party line is to Zip each AUP/_DATA combination into one archive and b...
