Re: I recorded with input mic too high

That's not the only damage. You can have trouble matching your microphone system to the computer and have it overload at a lower volume.

So which one of these do you have? What does it sound like?

Re: I recorded with input mic too high

Do the audacity blue sound waves go all the way top to bottom and/or does the bouncing light sound meter go all the way up to red? No. You're stuck. Clipping or overload means the digital system stopped following your voice. It would only be bad if that's all it did, but it also starts making its ow...

Re: Suggested workflow for me please

I did my recording after midnight when things are quieter. I do that. I have a soundproofed bedroom, but I live on a busy street. I haven't gotten around to building a panel for the window. Sony MDR 7506 Did you recognize the ones on Mr. Greene in the pix? That's NPR-West in Culver City, CA. If you...

(and I allways use 320 nowdays...)
Terrific. That's close to the ACX AudioBook submission standard.
Each file must be 192kbps or higher 44.1kHz MP3, Constant Bit Rate (CBR).
But they're in mono, not stereo. And it also says "or higher."

hard to believe that everyone has $500+ worth of hardware Not everyone, just the ones with the reliable podcasts. That's how Pando Podcast did it. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PandoPodcast.png If you count laptops, there's the Skype one, the Recorder and two personal laptops with podcast prog...

Re: Fender mustang amp is connected to audacity but wont rec

I can't find it in the instructions, but the Fender almost has to have a volume control for the USB. Can you find it and is it turned up?

Re: Fender mustang amp is connected to audacity but wont rec

easy USB connectivity OK. That works. Do you have Audacity device menu bar set for mono? It's possible the Fender mounts stereo, but a good way to make your instrument vanish is to pick the wrong one. Did you get a software package or drivers with the Fender? Did they say Windows 10 anywhere? Windo...

Re: Suggested workflow for me please

Or is it better to do noise reduction at a later point in the work flow? It's far better not to do noise reduction. Go > Utilities > Activity Monitor. Find out what's taking up all the resources. It's not normal for MacBooks to crank up their fans periodically. Restart the Mac and make sure none of...

Re: Choppy Recording in latest version

Post WAV (Microsoft) clips of a recording featuring the gaps. You can post 10 seconds stereo or 20 seconds mono. http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=72887 Don't send a post production clip. Post as close to the original recording as possible. I don't have a good answer. We're goin...

Re: Recording my podcast in Audacity

They should be your voice peaking between -6dB and -10dB on the Audacity bouncing light sound meter. That's roughly where the meter starts turning yellow. The blue wave tops should settle somewhere around 0.5 or a little less. Roughly here: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityRecording-65...
