Re: Audacity mp3s won't play in Media Player or iTunes

The PC I'm using with Audacity to create the mp3s is not connected to the internet. I virus-scanned it anyway and nothing came up. The mp3s are fine on that PC. I now add the bitrate as a column in the folder where I save them, and if it says '128' I know I'm ok. When I copied them onto the usb stic...

Re: Audacity mp3s won't play in Media Player or iTunes

I have been transferring the mp3s between two Windows XP PCs that use NTFS using a usb stick which has FATS. I don't know if this is what is causing the problem. But the mp3s are fine on the PC where they were created. I have also tried using copy instead of drag 'n' drop onto the stick, only moving...

Re: Audacity mp3s won't play in Media Player or iTunes

The reason I say 'seem to play' is that they open in Media Player but I had the USB codec for playback so there was no sound. In the other PC, it just says that the file is not in a recognisable mp3 format. I notice that the bitrate for all the mp3s that don't play is zero, while the good ones are 1...

Re: Audacity mp3s won't play in Media Player or iTunes

BTW the bitrate for mp3s is 128.

I've looked through all the Preferences now and can't see anything else I've changed. Unless the LAME mp3 dll is corrupt and needs to be reinstalled I'm out of ideas.

Re: Audacity mp3s won't play in Media Player or iTunes

I thought I'd cracked it because I'd changed the bitrate from 32-floating to 16-bit. I changed it back, recorded some more mp3s and still no luck. The sample rate remained unchanged at 44100.

They seem to play on the PC that I recorded them on.

Audacity mp3s won't play in Media Player or iTunes

I have Audacity set up on one PC and once I have created the mp3s, I transfer them to another PC. The first two batches worked fine. Then on the third batch, half of them wouldn't play in either Media Player or iTunes. Now none of the mp3s I transfer will play. The error message I get is that "the f...

Re: VU Meter question....

I just had this problem and the solution is: 1. Go to Edit -> Preferences 2. Go to interfaces tab 3. Check 'Meter toolbar' box. Really aggravating when it disappears so easily and then you have to hunt around to find out how to bring it back. Here's a tip: don't do it while saving another file as an...

Re: How do I adjust the input recording level?

Thanks for the replies. I called Numark and they explained that none of the controls in Audacity actually work with their usb connection. The secret of the gain control was revealed - but the guy refused to admit that siting it on the underside of the unit was a design fault! I've found that when re...

Re: How do I adjust the input recording level?

OK thanks. Maybe not the answer I was hoping for as Audacity came with the turntable. Bit of a waste if you can't use it to control the input! Any other ideas - or does anyone know where I can get the necessary drivers?

How do I adjust the input recording level?

I know this is a basic question but I'm out of ideas. I've tried using the input level by the mic sign, gain, output level, sound volume (I have a PC with Windows XP) and none of them have the slightest effect on the incoming signal. I'm recording from a Numark USB turntable. Whatever is built into ...
