Audacity Forum

I just bought a studio mic hoping to record vocals in audacity with my pc.
I'm using a 1/4" plug to 3.5 mm converter to plug the mic into the computer soundcard.
Is this a good way to record vocals? Cause i'm not really getting a good signal and the vocals sound really dull. Do i need a preamp?
