I'm not sure if I understand correctly what you are asking for, but if you use the Envelope Tool, you can silence a section of a track, and this can be adjusted later as it is a non-destructive edit. Alternatively, you can make a copy of the track and mute the original, then if you change your mind...

Adjust Clip Boundries (Workaround?)
Hi there, I am editing a bunch of hour long interviews. Is there a way to somehow set a region or selection/section for each track so I can still access the prior and after audio of the selection if I need it? Sometimes you need to access it and if you cut it then the audio just isn't there. I voted...
