I have discovered that the problem has nothing to do with Audacity. The built-in sound card in this system shows as working correctly in Device Manager but when I go into Control Panel | Sounds & Audio Devices it is not listed in any of the drop-downs on the Audio tab. I am installing Audacity 1.26 on XP Pro SP2 so the article about Vista does not seem to apply. Am I missing something? Thanks.
