Re: Crash in WinXP
MDOC, do you mean 90% should be replaced by 90,5 % or by 89,5 % ? It is much more important what everything shares hard drive's hardware. This includes swap you mentioned. Furthermore: Is there Windows directory (with registry etc.) ? Is there other partition that could be in use during that time? W...

Re: Application error crashes in Vista
I have 256 MB memory, win XP 1. I tried 32 doubled 6 s mono tracks. Plays OK 2. I tried 64 ....... Not OK. (no wonder...) (the logarithmus of the above numbers is only approximate). 3. A small bug: the vertical scroll bar changes the size when I duplicate the tracks (OK), but its flashing company on...

Re: Bug in 1.3.5: 24 bit to 16 bit WAV export or import
Yes, there seems to be an issue here - it is the same on Linux. When the default project rate is set to 24 bit, it will not import 16 bit files correctly. How very strange - I've not updated Audacity, but I can't reproduce the problem now. Steve, so it seems it can not be a bug... Somebody on the F...

Re: Crash in WinXP
Audacity can become unstable on Windows machines if their hard drives are over 90% full and/or have not been defragmented. Koz Why should it? It might have very poor performance not suitable for recording/replaying, but it should not crash. I am running it sometimes under severe conditions -- 256MB...
Re: recording
The panel with speaker shows volume of sound going out of Audacity. If Audacity plays no sound --- it shows nothing.gbsk wrote:The left panel shows no sound being "transferred" to the computer from the mic.
Re: recording
Read some tutorials. Prepare you that you will probably need: - either to use a small mixer to mix your cassete and mic signals - or to record first your cassete, and then record the mic, while having the first digital track in playback. Start by learning how to record cassete. Use line-in input of ...

Re: Bug in 1.3.5: 24 bit to 16 bit WAV export or import
How beautiful, if applied to sawtooths, it creates kind of fractals. What cannot be done with Audacity ! And it is even nicer under dB view. Do not choose 24bit for your project, choose 32bit float (recommended) or 16bit (Not recommended. Do that only If you are not going to apply any effects or wha...
