Thanks. The files need tomplay from the object via a web browser on a wide range of computers so I need to save the file in a way that plays on a standard setup. After messing around i figured the only possible solution was to increase the bit rate until they worked properly. They were fine at a bit...

I am an utter novice so I may be wrong but I seem to remember seeing something that suggested that this is due to exporting the MP3 at a different bit rate (higher??) than the original recording.
