Need an editing suggestion
I have a song file and in two spots it sounds as though someone moved a needle across a vinyl recording with a resulting scratching sound. Short of cutting the sound out to have a discontinuity at the spot, can anyone suggest a methodology for removing or minimizing the scratching sound?

waxcylinder: Thanks for the advice. I will try to reset the bitrate kozikowski: I changed to mono by first separating the tracks and deleting one the left one. reducing audio storage
I'm trying to save a portion of an audio track in mp3 to use as a ring tone on my cell phone. I've changed the track parameters from stereo to mono, I've deleted the left track and I've changed from 32 bit to 16 bit. All to no avail. The file size is the same as the original. What am I doing wrong?
