Re: New To Audacity. Where did my Meter Toolbar Go? Output
Also, where did my meter toolbar go. When I look at the "float meter toobat" it's grayed out. Have you checked Audacity's preferences (which you can access from the "Edit" menu)? In the preferences, if you select the "Interface" tab, you will find an option called "Enable Meter Toolbar". This optio...

Re: Input selector greyed out
Are you running Audacity on Windows Vista? In Vista, the Input selector is always greyed out.
In Vista, you have to select the Input from Audacity's preferences. See the following page on the Audacity Wiki for more information:

Re: how-to re-record a voice recording
If you select the audio you want to change, and then select "Silence" from the "Edit" menu, this will replace the selection with silence, but leaves the remainder of the track unchanged. You can then record your new item, which will be recorded into a new track. If the new recording is not where you...

Re: Changing sound quality? 128 to 320?
Go to the "Edit" menu in Audacity, and select "Preferences".
Then select "File Formats" from the box that appears. In the "MP3 Export Setup" section, you will have an option to change the bit rate.

Re: Please help.
If you're recording from an external piece of hardware (e.g. a musical instrument), have you checked the cable that connects your hardware and the laptop? The problem might be caused by a dodgy cable.

Re: No recording
Hi Ben, Have you checked the "Recording Source" (which is beside the volume controls for recording and playback) to make sure the right setting is selected (e.g. "Stereo Mix", "Line In", etc.). Also, if you don't have much disk space on your hard disk, that might also cause the problem. You could al...
