i tried using a different program and it worked fine so i guess that eliminates my equipment or hardware.

I would change programs but none comes close for user friendly interface

The hdd is about 90% free and tried a defrag but still happening.

what info can i provide you with to maybe pin point the problem better?

I am recording from a tape deck and the recording will go so far and it will stop and the cursor will just flash

any help much appreciated
