Re: "Ghost" image
Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried opening a new window and while it doesn't create another ghost block, the ghost from the first window remains after I close that window. Also, I can't say that it happens with any regularity or schedule. It just seems to occur at times. I think I've restarted...

"Ghost" image
When I use the Audacity (2.1.0) recording window, it creates an opaque white window behind it that remains on my screen after I move or close the recording window. It doesn't do it every time, but fairly frequently. The only way I can seem to get ride of it is to close and reopen Audacity. I run OS ...

Audacity 2.0.6
Does Audacity 2.0.6 operate pretty much the same as the earlier version? I'm comfortable with the fairly basic processes I now use and worry that if the new version is different, I won't be able to figure it out. I'm not particularly computer savvy as you can probably guess.
Re: No Sound
I erased Audacity and downloaded it again. Seems to be working now.
Re: No Sound
I'm listening through powered external speakers, which is what I've always used. The window next to the speaker reads Soundflower (64ch), which I think it what it's always read. The only other choice in the drop down menu is Soundflower (2ch) and when I click on that I get no sound, either. But when...
No Sound
All of a sudden, I'm getting no audible sound from playback on Audacity. The left and right markers are moving, but no sound is coming out. I probably did something to make this happen. Any idea how I can fix this? Thanks.

Re: Playback Error
All of a sudden, Audacity has begun to playback again. So I suppose the problem solved itself, at least for now.

Re: Playback Error
I haven't changed anything. It's played back through the external speakers I have plugged in since I set it up when the new iMac arrived two weeks ago. If anything got changed, it was an accident. I haven't intentionally changed anything.

Playback Error
Audacity has, all of a sudden, ceased to play back. When I click the play button an Error window pops up that reads: "Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate."
Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
Thanks for any help.

Re: Recording software
Bill - Thanks a million. I gotta say, though, it's about a thousand times more complicated than Total Recorder on Windows. I read through the Soundflower instructions/tutorial, and I don't understand even half of it. One quick question: If I don't intend to add any sounds to what I'm recording - if ...
