This time it was still behind the menu bar, but the very bottom was visible. So I moved it quite a long way ...

By coincidence I just logged on for this same issue.

I followed the instructions above. It fixes it the next time you open Audacity, but it then breaks immediately the subsequent time.

FYI it also fixes itself if you minimise the window (cmd-M) and then maximise it again.

I'd be brave enough to compile, but it's not that big a deal!
