Re: Making voice recording sound awesome
getting in closer to my mic (and turning down my input gain a little to compensate) On input gain, read this . To sum it up, with 24-bit recording, you have more headroom on the low end and don't need to be worried as much about recording too softly. It's easy to normalize the track to whatever lev...

Re: Making voice recording sound awesome
Something I forgot to mention is that the AT4040 picks up a lot of room noise anyway, so you may need to move in a touch closer to get less of the room. How are you listening to your recordings? I just bought the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones, and they are good at revealing details you wouldn't ...

I also use the AT4040. I've been experimenting with distance and angle. Some recommend that you record slightly to the side with the AT4040, though I like the sound with it directly in line with my mouth. Listening to the mp3 you provided, I could hear quite a bit of the room and not so much of your...

Re: pop noise when recording
Clicks also noted here with 1.3.4 (48KHz). At first I thought something happened to my recording equipment, but after recording the same thing with 1.2.6, there were no clicks. My audio interface is an M-Audio Fast Track Pro USB. 1.3.4 is the first beta version I've tried, and I like the new feature...

Multiple Monitors—Keep Display Settings?
For doing voice-over recording, I prefer to have the main Audacity window on the secondary monitor, and the script on the main monitor, with the Audacity Control Toolbar under the script. Is there a way to preserve the screen layout between Audacity (Windows XP) sessions? Thanks in advance.

Re: Conflict??
Here is a direct link to the dll. I recommend just saving it in your Audacity/Plug-ins folder.

Re: Need advise ...best microphone?
Here is another option; I use mine to record radio spots. Though you can use a 9V battery, I recommend you use 48V phantom power (such as that on my M-Audio Fast Track Pro), either on the audio interface or a preamp. I plan on adding a tube preamp to my setup soon (either the PreSonus BlueTube or t...

Re: Need Click Track Help
Click tracks are generally used to make sure the performers keep a steady tempo throughout a recording session. When you have different people coming in at different times to record their individual portions for the same project, this is a necessity. In the final mix, the click track is not present,...
