Re: Unable to power up Dansrue cassette to MP3 converter with Audacity

Did you put batteries in it? If it doesn't work at all, even before you connect it to the computer, return it. ...Those cheap little USB cassette players have a rather bad reputation. P.S. If you happen to have a regular analog cassette deck that still works there are other solutions. And if you als...

Re: Crackling when two separate clips are played

What I was going to add is - Compression can be used to bring-up the vocal "intensity" to help it stand-out in the mix. Dynamic compression reduces the loud parts and/or boosts the quiet parts, so that allows you to bring-up the overall loudness without clipping. It's one of the most commonly used e...

Re: Filter Curve Setting Issue

Very strange! Just to be sure... Did you select the whole file?

Have you tried some "extreme" settings?

Are you working with a regular full-range music file on good speakers/headphones where you're likely to hear differences?

Re: What is the difference between stereo tracks called and is there a way I can hear only that difference?

The Vocal Reduction and Isolation can also do it. Just choose the Remove Center option. Someone has used a weird recording method to send a message in the Offset between the stereo tracks and I can vaguely hear talking between the channels when i play it back You can't get that from a stereo microph...

Re: White noise between two frequencies

If you look at the FFT afterwards is far from white noise. It has very frequencies, the lower you filter. The filtering is probably more accurate than the FFT. ;) The Classic Filter effect can make high-pass & low-pass filters which you can combine (one after the other) to make a bandpass filter, b...

Re: Crackling when two separate clips are played

don't think it sounds too great (but mind you I don't know whether that's down to the quality of the vocal editing). 50/50 is not necessarily the "right mix" but the idea is that the total shouldn't go over 100% (0dB). Usually the vocals need to be a little "out front". Try opening the Mixer Board ...

Re: Can't remove popping sound

There is also a Click Removal effect, the Repair Effect, or you can zoom-in and manually re-draw the waveform with the Draw Tool, or you can cut-out or just mute the short section with the defect. (If you mute or cut, make sure you are cutting/muting on the zero-crossings or use the short cross-fade...

Re: Can't remove popping sound

You might have a DC offset. You can't hear DC (zero-Hz) but it makes a click or pop when it kicks-in and kicks-out.

Re: Crackling sound when recording and also upon playback

if I change the buffer length, should I first try going up from, let's say, 100 ms to 110 ms, or move it up more incrementally, such as 101 ms or 102 ms? I'd try doubling it. Normally, the only downside to a bigger buffer is more latency (delay) but latency doesn't matter at all unless you are sing...

Re: Failure to recognize input.

if I plug the turntable into a USB audio interface, it will be recognized by Big Sur and render the mic source quandary resolved? Of course I can't guarantee anything but it should work. (And, I'm a Windows user.) To be fair, the AT turntable is probably 9 years old. Should that matter? That should...
