Everything I record sounds like it was recorded in a tin can
Not sure why, but every thing I record sounds like it was recorded in a tin can (muffled with slight echo.) I tried recording from multiple sources ("Windows primary audio" device, my MoBo audio, even my webcam.) All recordings sound the same. :( Normal playback is fine. Recording Settings...

Re: Audacity won't launch. Help.
If there are different audio drivers for my Realtek onboard audio, I'm not finding them. Is it a branded computer like Dell or Lenovo? If so, the best place to look is their site. Or did you build the computer yourself? If so, the best place to look is the motherboard manufacturer's site. (Sorry fo...

Re: Audacity won't launch. Help.
Hi Gale, Since I had new information and my original assumption was wrong, I felt it deserved a new topic, but it's not important. I disabled all my audio codecs using K-Lite's "Codec Tweak Tool" but it didn't help so that wasn't the issue. As I stated in my new post, I updated ALL outdate...

Audacity works in a VM, but not natively??? Help.
Briefly, when I launch Audacity, the logo appears and then nothing. The app never opens. :( After a bit of detective work, I discovered I can get Audacity to run two ways: 1) Run it from a "Virtual Machine" (I'm using 64bit Win7. I installed Win10 under "VM Player") and Audacity ...

Re: Audacity won't launch. Help.
Thanks Gale, K-Lite does let you chose your codecs, though I probably installed most (if not all) of it. I have no reason to suspect my audio driver since audio is otherwise working properly. I wish I could see what was causing the conflict. :( Right now, my "work-around" is to run Audacit...

Re: Audacity won't launch. Help.
So I tried reinstalling all of my codecs (K-Lite 12.x). Did you try not installing all your codecs? Failing to launch can be any plug-in, filter, or add-on. Should I uninstall all my codecs before trying to reinstall Audacity? I don't recall ever having to do that before and I'd really rather not s...

Audacity won't launch. Help.
I had Audacity 2.1.1 installed but I hadn't used it in months. Then, when I went to use it the other day, it never got past the start-up logo. I waited but the editor never appeared. I had to use the Task Manager to close the program. So I tried upgrading to 2.1.2. Same result. So I did a full unins...

Re: BUG? Truncated loading of Multi-channel waves.
The new ver8 of Ubuntu comes out in just under a month. I use the 32bit v7.10 now but rather than waste time d/l'ing the 64bit v7.10, I'll just wait for v8.stevethefiddle wrote:If you have the chance, perhaps you could try it and let us know.
Is there a separate 64bit version of Audacity for Linux I must use?

Re: BUG? Truncated loading of Multi-channel waves.
Thanks for the reply. I thought the problem was related to # of channels, and thought it occurred around 1GB, but I had no way of confirming it. I'm using a 64bit Athlon64 X2, but with 32bit WinXP Pro, so I'm hitting that limit. I'm trying to edit a huge 4+ GB surround sound file (AC3 to WAV convers...

BUG? Truncated loading of Multi-channel waves.
( Pardon me if I'm posting this in the wrong place. ) One of the things I love about Audacity is that it is one of the few that support multi-channel (more than 2ch) wave files. Unfortunately, there's a problem. If I try to load a REALLY large (over 1GB) multi-channel wave, Audacity only loads the f...
