Track Names Change When A Track Is Deleted
When mixing down a multitrack recording, I number my tracks 1-18 top to bottom, but if delete a track, the numbers representing the tracks change. Any way to prevent this?

Actually, at the moment, I am running 1.3.14. I had crashes with 2.0, so I reverted back to 1.3.14 to see if 2.0 was my problem, which obviously it is not. I am not using a USB turntable, but rather a USB mixer interface (Pyle Pad10MXU) fed by a standard turntable with audio outs. I record one side ...

Thanks for your reply. I defrag on a frequent basis, and HD shows over 100 hours capacity. Crashes
I'm running Audacity 2 on a XP, SP3 system. I have about 150 LP's to convert. About every 6 or 8 records, Audacity crashes. It asks me to send a report to Microsoft, which I do not want to do. Is there anyone besides Microsoft who can read & interpret the error report?

Recording For Best Quality CD
I will be recording a live performance soon for the purpose of producing a CD. Is it better to record at 48000, 24 bit and later convert to 441000, 16 bit or initially record at 441000, 16 bit?

Open Additional Files
Is there any way to open additional audio files without opening a new session of Audacity. In other words, close the audio file presently being worked on, and open another file within the same session of Audacity. Every time I open a file, a new session of Audacity opens.
