In the end I worked out it was because I was trying to install an incompatible version of Lame - it kept messing up my sound settings and I lost sound every time I opened Audacity. All fixed now as I have downloaded correct version of Lame.

I have been trying to export my music file as an MP3. I have tried downloading Lame a few times.
