When I hit the record button the error pops up, also I can open files in audacity, WMP and iTunes but can't play them.

I am getting the 'Error when opening sound device' error when I try to record and its effecting my whole computer. When the error continues to pop up I can't open the volume control or play stepmania. I haven't found any other things that have been affected because of it. The odd thing about the err...
