Audacity's terrific, but those incessant lines suck. I mean talk about unnecessary and annoying. I've wasted a lot of time having to start projects completely from scratch.
Is there a way to just turn this off?

Can't open files in Audacity
I downloaded several songs that play fine in Winamp, but I haven't had any luck burning them. Audacity will import the files, but they won't play (the needle just skips right to the end + you get a high-pitched squeal.) Of course, I can't edit or export them. Can Audacity handle this?
I downloaded a cd with 25 tracks. The problem is, each file begins with the last few seconds from the preceding song, and ends several seconds early. Of, course, these several seconds are carried over to the beginning of the next file, etc., etc. Can I use Audacity to "reassemble" each track so that...
