So I guess this should go into 'Suggestions' or 'Wish List', but the trouble is, there is not a section that I can see for this.
It makes no odds to me, because I don't use Audacity, as Mixcraft 5 leaves it standing.

Re: Audacity and ASIO driver
How can it violate the terms of its license if it is not distributed with the ASIO driver? All that needs be done is for Audacity to detect the soundcard driver by default (or have no driver detected by default) within a drop-down selection box, together with the means of selecting any other driver ...

Re: Audacity and ASIO driver
I did understand what Koz was saying. That is why I suggested modifying Audacity so that it is possible to select a driver of choice from within a drop-down box. This is how many other programs do it.

Re: Audacity and ASIO driver
There's an easier way around that. Make it so that the desired driver can be selected from a drop-down menu. This is how most other programs do it. Then all this recompiling nonsense would be a thing of the past.

Audacity and ASIO driver
Why is there not an ASIO version of Audacity released? This would save people having to indulge in all this compiling nonsense, which is way beyond ordinary computer users. I don't use Audacity (I prefer Mixcraft 5), but my brother, who does use it (with Behringer Xenyx 502 and UCA200 USB interface)...

Re: MP3 Quality control
I edited my previous post to add that I had saved all my files in CBR, not VBR. I apologise for neglecting to previously mention this. I used Magix to perform this editing because Audacity has a terrible graphic equalizer interface, and the preview time is completely inadequate. However, I will give...

Re: MP3 Quality control
What I did was load an MP3 file (192 kbps 16-bit) into my Magix audio editor and increased the 16khz, 13khz and 6khz bands by +7db, +3db, and +2db respectively. This had the effect of improving the upper treble frequencies that were previously muffled, and giving it more fidelity. I then saved this ...

Re: MP3 Quality control
All those figures you provide are almost identical, suggesting that there are some errors somewhere, because my ears clearly tell me different. Of course, I saved the edited mp3 files from within the Magix Music Editor, not Audacity, and also the files I'm working with are 16-bit, not 32-bit. 32-bit...

Re: MP3 Quality control
The fact that you can't hear a difference may be down to loss of sensitivity to hear high frequencies. I noticed this encoding issue after I tried loading a high bitrate (192 kbps) MP3 download into my audio editor, Magix Music editor 2.0. With the inbuilt graphic equalizer I was able to give it mor...

Who said Windows 7 is awkward to use? I consider it the best and most stable Windows yet.
