I think what did the trick was in Audacity Preferences - Devices, I changed my recording device to microphone; I kept my playback device on speakers. :) I'm using a headset with mic from Radioshack. Now, I still haven't figured out how to get it to sound like I say it. It still comes out speeded up....

Actually, I did get it to record. Thanks.
Now I'm having a different problem ...
Everything I say is being run together and speeded up.
How do I adjust the settings so the recording sounds like what I'm saying?

Most of what is on that link, I already did. Here's the list of what I did again while I was going through those instructions. Microphone is enabled Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices are both checked There is no option to Set as Default Device. The only options are: Configure Speec...

can't get it to record
I have Windows 7
I followed the tutorial and when I get to the point where it says to click on "Start Monitoring" there is no sound going in - nothing happens. I've checked my settings over and over again.
I'd appreciate some help.
