Re: Please Recommend an "Audacity Friendly" Laptop
Thanks for your response! This was the post I am referring to and the information about the unit I purchased in response to some recommendations I received on this list: Tue Aug 23, 2011 3:40 pm Several months ago, I lamented on this list that while I could make wonderful mono recordings on my Dell ...

Please Recommend an "Audacity Friendly" Laptop
I need to buy a new laptop. I would like to buy a moderate price laptop that works well with Audacity software. I record directly from my Kurzweil digital piano. In the back on the piano are right and left RCA stereo output jacks. In the past, I have been only recording in mono, attaching wires to t...

Strange Tone Interrupts Recordings
I have made many recordings, from a couple of minutes up to one hour thirty minutes in length. However, during my last two recordings, a tone interrupts the recording. I was making a 30-minute recording, and 3 times, for about 4 seconds each time, a tone completely interrupts the recording, oblitera...

Behringer U-Phono Stereo Recording
Several months ago, I lamented on this list that while I could make wonderful mono recordings on my Dell Vostro laptop using Audacity, I could not make stereo recordings. I have a Kurzweil RG-200 Digital Piano that I use for my Audacity recording sessions. It has stereo output jacks in the back of t...

Hardware & Software for Stereo Recording on a Laptop
I have a Dell Vostro 1520 running Windows 7 Professional. I have been recording in mono, by inserting my patch cord from my digital piano into the mic jack on the front of my computer. I have the opportunity to avail myself of the services of a professsional computer technician this week. I please ...

Re: Why is my CPU maxing out at 100% and WMP breaking up?
I've not got Windows 7, but can you order the processes list to get them displayed in order of CPU usage? Does it show the CPU usage? Any of the processes pushing over 80%? Thanks for responding Steve. Yes, Windows 7 can do this. When I have Audacity running, wmplayer.exe takes up the most space 51...

Re: Why is my CPU maxing out at 100% and WMP breaking up?
Have a look in the Task Manager and see which process is running at such a high CPU load. Thanks for the reply Steve. Just a moment ago, I checked the processes. I was burning a CD at the time. explorer.exe wmplayer.exe taskmgr.exe I did not have Internet Explorer open. All three are rapidly changi...

Why is my CPU maxing out at 100% and WMP breaking up?
After about a half hour of recording, at least one of my CPU max's out at around 100%. The sound coming from WMP becomes distorted when my CPU usage is so high. I cannot record more than 4 tracks for a 3 minute piece, or else the computer starts running super fast. I am running Windows 7 on a Dell ...

Can I delete AU Format Sound (.au) files?
I am using Audacity 1.3 Beta (Unicode) running Windows 7, on a Dell Vostro 1520 laptop. I compose a lot of music. I save my finished songs as mp3 files. However, it appears that whenever I record a song, AU Format Sound (.au) files are simultaneously created. After a couple of months of recording, ...

Ambient Sound Problem
When I record directly from my digital piano (Kurzweil RG200) to my laptop (Dell Vostro 1520), it seems that the built-in mic from my laptop is recording the ambient sounds in the room. Is there a way to disable the built-in mic, so that the recording does not contain ambient sound? I am using wires...
