Re: Stop & then continue recording?

Thanks for your patience with me. Another embarrassing question. After selecting all the material in the second pair of tracks to move it up, the cut, copy, paste, and trim options in the editing menu are all grayed out. This happened to me earlier when I was just trying to delete a small section. W...

Stop & then continue recording?

Even after reading various wiki pages, I'm still fuzzy on some basics. I stopped recording (from a tape deck) rather than pausing so I could tweak and save the file, then tried to start up again in the same file. It's now recording in what appears to be a separate pair of tracks, below the pair from...

Re: How to unpause?

Yes, I clicked on the pause button again, without effect.
I have a feeling I'm missing something obvious here in terms of a basic control...

How to unpause?

I'm creating a file from a cassette being fed into my computer. Paused Audacity in the middle & paused the tape deck. When I came back, clicking Pause again sent the "cursor" back to the beginning. Couldn't click Record again. And I can't even save the file (in the hopes of recording t...

Re: Poor audio quality after transfer

>>are you positive the levels were not too high when you recorded? I thought so, but I'm glad you pushed me to look again. I'm beginning to suspect this *was* the problem -- or at least part of it. But now that I look more carefully at recording levels, I can't figure out what's pushing them so high...

Re: Poor audio quality after transfer

Maybe it's the version of Realtek I have, but most of these options are missing from my control. I certainly have nothing eq-related. I'm still stumped, then, about why the file Audacity created from a commercial music cassette sounds so bad.

Re: Poor audio quality after transfer

Whomper: Thanks so much for your reply. >>go into realtek and ensure all the crapola is turned off Do you mean muting everything except the line input? If so, then, yes, I did that. >>are you sure the recording is not clipping when you make it ? Not sure what "clipping" is (distortion from...

Re: Poor audio quality after transfer

Have spent more time reading the Wiki and the help file, and still can't figure out why the sound quality is as poor as it is. Help!

Re: Poor audio quality after transfer

Kozikowski: Thanks for the reply. On question #1: does this touch test tell me whether I've got stereo sound or just that both channels are working? On question #2: the input sources you mention don't apply in my case, and the page you linked to (about mixer toolbar issues) also doesn't seem to spea...
