Hi Gale on your reply i only got a copy of my original post.

I'm recording using a microphone held up to a guitar amp and it was recording fine but now the line has gaps in it when recording and its as if someone is pressing mute intermittently during recording. Ive tried playing with the input level on my interface and moving the mic but to no effect.

As the title says only my left input recieves signal but both outputs work when listening back. The recording is broken and distorted, is this because its trying to find both inputs when recording?
