cheers chaps have since found out that it happens on 33 sometimes as well. am going to try the analogue route tonite btw, its an 'acoustic solutions' TT but does have a lieout/phono switch. its currently set on line out so will try leaving as is. i assume i still use the audacity software to record ...

hi, i'm using audacity with a usb turntable which works fine on 33rpm but goes funny on 45. after a few seconds of recording it distorts with loads of noise. should add i'm using a flat screen imac, but not sure which OS (about 18 months old?) i quit everything and restart before starting recording....
