I'm glad I was able to help. I spent weeks (with great support from this Forum) trying to sort out my own recording problems re the 'Realtek' sound chip on my motherboard. It should not have to be like this and I blame 'Realtek' for not providing drivers that are up to the job.

you vcan enable the microphone by opening the installed Realtek Folder and find the file 'miccal.exe' click on this and follow any prompts and this will enable use of the microphone. It certainly worked for me. God luck.

Managed to produce a 'wave-form' on audacity but not a proper one, consequently the play back is very distorted and could not be listened to but at least it is a step up from a straight line.
