koz I have resovled the issue at hand inspite of my sloping forehead, long arms, and calloused knuckles... All I had to do was "locate" the FFmpeg .dll already installed by Audacity. Edit>Preferences>Libraries>Locate and the choose the .dll it lists. The file works fine now - all 6 channel...

Importers supposedly supporting such files are: WAV, AIFF, and other uncompressed types, FFmpeg-compatiable files, but none of them understood this file format. My file info is from AVIcodec...
