It was set to ALSA. The meters work and other sound works, mplayer, etc. However no sound.

There is no sound output on play. Record works, the meters work, etc.

On play everything else appears to work including the meters, however no sound is produced, Output works on other sound packages.

Thanks for the pointers. Now it plays, the meters work, however there is no output. Other sound still works.

Yes it errors with:

Expression 'ValidateParameters( outputParameters, outputDeviceInfo, StreamMode_Out )' failed in 'src/hostapi/oss/pa_unix_oss.c', line: 1206

One of the suggestions was to explicitly set alsa. How is this done?

error on playback.

The system is FC7 with all the updates installed. Sound works well in other environments. Audacity record works, however attempts to play back result in error message: Error while opening sound device.

Sound is configured for alsa. I am not sure how to check the audacity config.

All, The system is a T41 with Fedora 7. Record and most features appear to work as documented. However attempts to play sound result in the above message. There is no other diagnostic. Any help on making this work? If it any help mplayer works for root, but does not work for users. This is run as us...
