Re: using a silence finder to split a long recording

Unfortunately, I'm still not able to get the drop-downs under the Analyse button to become active after I stop my recording: they ("beat finder and silence finder") remain greyed-out. Where do I go from here to get Audacity to automatically split my long recording into tracks instead of my having to...

Re: using a silence finder to split a long recording

I think I got it. So by clicking at the end of the first track and selecting "silence finder" will automatically break my long tracks into separate tracks? I'll try it and will let you know. Thanks for all.

Re: using a silence finder to split a long recording

By clicking on the tracks information block, will this automatically break/split my long recording into tracks as I've read in some of these posts. I'm trying to use the "silence finder" to automatically break/split my recording into tracks instead of my having to do it manually by clicking the "Pro...

Re: using a silence finder to split a long recording

Thanks for your reply; however, I must be doing something wrong because when I stop recording, the Analyze button is NOT greyed out, but the two drop-downs under Analyze ("beat finder" and "silence finder") are greyed out. I've even downloaded silence.ny three times and I still get the same thing. W...

Re: using a silence finder to split a long recording

I have to manually find the start of each track and then go to tthe Project Tab and select "Add Label At Selection" What exactly did you do...

Re: New Guy on the Block-No Playback, no waveform

I've checked my "Software Playthrough" box, my speaker volume slider is far to the right and I have selected "Microsoft Sound Mapper Out" for my Playback Device and "Microsoft Sound Mapper Input" as my Recording Device and I still do not hear anything nor see a waveform when playing my casse...

Re: Can't hear Playback, No waveform

Thanks. Yes I do have Windows XP Pro and I am using Audacity 1.2.6. I've downloaded it three times. I've done everything exactly as suggested, but I still do not hear a thing when I play a tape. My speakers are always on and do work. What do I do now? Also, where am I suppose to post my problems?

Can't hear Playback, No waveform

I'm new at this so I need all the help I can get. I've tried everything I've read on this forum trying to get started on recording my old cassette tapes. The main problem I'm having at this point is that I'm NOT able to hear what I'm trying to record. I've connected an audio cable from the audio out...
