Ok, I finally figured it out. The problem was that I thought I had stereo mix turned off but really I just unchecked it in volume control. So I checked it so it showed up in volume control and then muted it. Really simple but at least I got it. Thanks a lot, you were really helpful.

My sound card is up to date. Recently I wiped my computer so I have had to download most of the drivers myself. Could this be where the problem is? I am using a Realtek High Definition Audio driver.

It is on Line in/Mic in and that is the only option it gives me.

I am using Windows XP with Audacity version 1.2.6. I have my keyboard plugged directly into the computer along with headphones. The spillover is louder than the original recording. I have also tried using a mic and headphones but the results are still the same. I have also tried monitoring with my m...

Both Audacity and Control Panel are already set to Line in/ Mic in.

1st track recording on 2nd track

When I record a second track the first track is recorded in the second track. Is there a way that I can listen to the first track while recording the second without the first being re recorded.
