I have had a look through the various tutorials but I can't actually find anywhere where it says you can play one track whilst recording another.

I am a real novice at this so any replies please in 'idiot guide' format!
I want to record a guitar then I want to play the music back and then sing to the guitar track whilst recording the song.

Problems with volume
When I record audio I put the microphone on 6 and the sound on around 9 but when I playback it keeps muting the WAV section of the master volume and each time I test or play I need to go the the master volume and take off the tick that keeps reappearing. You are almost certainly trying to import a file type that Audacity does not support . I have downloaded Audacity but when I try and import a wma and play it, it just give a brief second of scrambled sound.
