Talked to Dell Tech and was advised that PC came with Microsoft generic sound card that does not support Stereo Mixer. Will look for a 3rd party card. In meantime, able to record by connecting Line Out to Line In.

Read suggested link. Didn't help. Have tried all option on Volume Mixer, Control Panel Sound, and Audacity Edit Options. New to Audacity 1.2.3. When running Windows 7 on my PC and recording music with Mixer as input device I get clicking sounds in playback. This does not happen using my laptop running XP. Is this a Microsoft feature to discourage recording streaming sound or a sound card issue?
