Re: Installation trouble: wxWidgets

Which version of Audacity do you want to build?
There have been big changes (simplifications) to the build process with the most recent Audacity code.

how can I generate noise (white is the main one but also others) only between two frequencies that I can specify (instead of the default 20-20KHz)?
That's called "band limited noise" rather than "white noise".

I did exactly what the directions read.
Please describe what you did. The symptoms that you describe suggest that Audacity is running directly from the DMG.

Re: Guaranteed High Frequency Sound Card With IN and OUT

For "guaranteed" very high frequencies, I think we're back to the bat recording hobbyists (see my first reply, and Google for "bat recording" and similar)

Re: How to create and export track listing to long recording?

I really want one 2-hour recording, just as long as it has the track listing? Some apps support "chapter marks" that allow you to do that, but there is no "standard" way to do it that is widely supported. Most MP3 players support playlists (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M3U) which allow you to...

Re: Know the amplitude (volume) of a file.

Not to open another topic, on one occasion I met a puglin that makes the audio uniform (single volume) mainly the voice. Do you mean that it made loud voices quieter and quiet voices louder? If so, that may have been the Nyquist plug-in: "Level Speech" which you can get here: https://wiki.audacityt...

Re: Pathnames longer than 256 characters not supported

The "pathname" refers to the full name of the file including it's directory (also known as it's "fully qualified file name") For example, a file called "test.mp3" that is in your Documents folder has a fully qualified file name of: /Users/ <your user name> /Documents/test.mp3 The maximum number of c...

Re: Can't remove popping sound

Zoom in close on the artefact that you can see in the track spectrogram view, then switch to the default waveform view. You will then probably see that there's a discontinuity in the waveform. Making edits at "zero crossing" points can help to avoid clicks. If that still produces a click, use a shor...

Re: Add option to swap the ok-cancel buttons order in the appropriate dialog windows

The issue is present on Xubuntu Linux.

Observe that in File dialogs, the Cancel button is to the left of the Save button:

but everywhere else the Cancel button is to the right of the OK / Yes / Confirm button:

Re: No line indicating the current position in 2.4.2

Is this a bug? Audacity does not yet fully support Wayland. This is already logged on the Audacity issue tracker, but it probably requires Audacity to be built with WxWidgets 3.1 (which is already stated to be the required version in Audacity's build instructions), but package maintainers have freq...
