Re: No Audacity in headphones despite settings.

I was going to suggest that you try running "Rescan Audio Devices" from the "Transport" menu, but I see that you've already tried that.

Try changing the Project Rate (lower left corner of the main Audacity window) to 44100.

Re: HOW TO GET COMPUTER TO RECOGNIZE EXTERNAL USB MIKEROPHONE

1. Ensure that your Caps Lock key is not stuck ;)
2. Check in the Windows Sound settings that Windows can see the mic, the recording level is turned up, and Windows is getting a signal from it.
3. Launch (or relaunch) Audacity, and select the USB mic as the recording device in the Device Toolbar.

Re: recorded audio breaking up

Thanks. I can see the glitches. Notice the discontinuity in the waveform here: First Track000.png I hate these issues because there are so many things that might be causing it  Starting with the simplest and easiest: "Cold boot" 1. Shut down the computer completely (hold down "Shift" as you ch...

Re: Select everything AFTER a point

Click on the waveform at "the point", then "Shift + End".

(To select everything before the point, it's "Shift + Home")
Other ways to select are described on this page: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/aud ... ction.html

When I listen to the recording it sounds like it is breaking up
Would you be able to create a mono 10 second WAV or FLAC file to demonstrate the problem?
If so, please upload the file with your reply (see: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=72887)

Re: Audio Capture From Cassette Tape

I have dozens of cassette tapes (ct) I need to transfer to a different format. Likely wav or MP3 to make CD. For making audio CDs, best to export your recordings as standard (16-bit stereo, 44100 Hz) WAV files. Audacity uses these settings by default when you select "File menu > Export > Export as ...

Re: recorded audio breaking up

What sample rate are you using?
(Look in the "Project Rate" at the bottom left corner of the main Audacity window).

If you record, then Export as a WAV or MP3 and then play it in your usual audio player, does it play correctly?

Re: Win7/2.3.3, Digi002 Rack: trying to figure out how to record first note!

For instance, what if the input is on the PC's audio input? Then you select the PC's audio input as the recording input device in the Device Toolbar . Note that typical PC sound cards report multiple inputs, but some of them may not actually be connected to any physical input sockets. Audacity popu...

Re: Audacity not preserving all EXIF data (metadata)

Audacity uses ID3 v2.3 tags for MP3, and has read/write support for: Artist Name Track Title Album Title Track Number Year Genre Comments <custom> There may be multiple "<custom>" fields, though they may not be supported by other apps. If an MP3 contains only ID3 v1.x tags, Audacity will import: Tra...

Re: Win7/2.3.3, Digi002 Rack: trying to figure out how to record first note!

OK, I go to Tracks->Add New->Stereo Track You don't need to do that with Audacity. When you press the Record button (Shortcut: "R"), Audacity will create new tracks. The number of recording channels is set in the Device Toolbar . After you press "Stop" (shortcut: "Space"), if you want to append the...
