Re: No Sound in Audacity

Which Linux distro are you using?
Does it not have PulseAudio, or have you removed PulseAudio?

Re: Audacity crashes when selecting Effect > Equalization

If you look on the left end of the tracks, each track says what its sample rate is. For example, it may say "Mono 44100Hz", which means that it is a mono track and the sample rate is 44100 Hz. What does it say for the tracks in the project where you have this problem? Also, what is the "Project Rate...

Re: I want 2.1.2 back. Chains not working.

my program keystrokes don't all work Because there were so many keyboard shortcuts by default, it was difficult for users to find available keys for making custom shortcuts. It was therefore decided to have a smaller set of pre-defined shortcuts by default, with the full set (or a custom set) as ot...

Re: Podcasting Loudness Standard

Unless you are under contractual obligation to guarantee -16 LUFS, I'd suggest that you don't worry too much about it. There is no formal (accredited) standard for podcast loudness, though it is generally recognised that around -16 LUFS is a reasonable level - not too loud and not too quiet. If your...

Re: Where is the version 2.1.1?

"screen reader accessible" version of Mac is normal version? Yes that's the normal version. Audacity 2.1.1 was re-released for Mac because an updated library used by Audacity caused problems with screen readers on macOS. A lot of work has since gone into the development code to restore screen reade...

Re: Where is the version 2.1.1?

Unfortunately, I (we) can not completely rewrite the book. It is not uncommon for people to publish revised versions of books, or to add an "addendum" to bring a book up to date when the subject matter has changed. Note that we completely update the Audacity manual for every release: https://manual...

Is there a way to save a project without losing the history?
Currently, the only way is to make frequent backups using "Save Project As...", each uniquely named, for example:
My-project001.aup
My-project002.aup
My-project003.aup
...

Re: Effects to improve the audio

I start with noise reduction 2 times The alarm bells are ringing. Whenever anyone says "noise reduction" as the first effect that comes to mind, it usually indicates that the original recording has way too much noise to salvage a "good" recording. You've taken that a step further saying "2 times" :...

Re: Delete extraneous labels

I'm using v2.2.2 on Windows 10 and it seems that there is still no "easy" way to delete extra labels, even five YEARS after it seemed like there were good and accepted suggestions. Right click on Label > Delete Label (https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/label_tracks.html#context) Alternatively you ...

Ensure that you connect the USB device before you launch Audacity.
