sound quality deterioration

After making a recording on my Yamaha P-80 digital piano and saving it as a MIDI file to my hard drive, I opened it in Windows and played it on my computer, through headphones. The sound quality I hear on my computer is more "tinny" than either: (1) the sound quality of other digital pianos on the I...

Re: Error Message about project sample rate and input device

<<<Does anyone have a notion why Audacity is giving me this Error Message and another notion how I can check the input device settings and possibly change them as well as check the sample rate and change it?>>> We'd be happy with a notion of what you're trying to do. Be specific. On my WIndows XP l...

Error Message about project sample rate and input device set

I'm getting an Error Message that I'm attaching. It says there's an error opening the sound device, and it asks me to please check the input device settings and the project sample rate. On searching this forum, I found 1686 matches for the word "input" and 1541 matches for the word "project." The ma...

Re: I'm doing all the right things . . .

If there is a "checklist" on this website for recording with Line-in, please let me know, and I will follow its instructions to the letter. Not on this forum AFAIK - but try this page from the Audacity wiki: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=Transferring_tapes_and_records_to_computer_or_...

Re: I'm doing all the right things . . .

Dear Friend. Got a couple of questions for you. If the first one is a 'yes', there might well be a workaround until you find the true cause of the problem. You say you've MADE the recording. By that, do you mean you can (pardon the lack of scientific expressions!) see the wiggly line in the Audacit...

"Yes," I can play an imported file, mp3 files, .wav files and hear them through my headset.

By the way, I forgot to mention the sliders for Input and Output Volume are all the way up.

Re: I'm doing all the right things . . .

Regarding the USB microphone, "Yes," I had a Parrott microphone with a USB Pod plugged into the MIC input.

I removed it and still received the "Error while opening sound device . . . " message, on trying to record with Audacity.

Re: I'm doing all the right things . . .

There are only three options under "Default Device": (1) AK 5370, (2) SigmaTel Audio (my soundcard), and (3) Modem #O Line Record.

None is working yet . . . !

Re: I'm doing all the right things . . .

It was encouraging to get Audacity to record with a microphone (this without even checking "Microphone" in "Properties") then I changed the sample rate to 44100 Hz and the Sample Format to 16-bit, checking "Line-in" in the same "Properties" dialog. But the same error message (posted above) appears. ...
