Re: WaveGain Vs Audacity Effect "Amplify"

None of this stuff will prevent you from using your existing volume control. Any method of volume matching will reduce the volume of many (or most) of your files. Yes and this is the reason I want to 'volume level' my archive files so I don't have to fiddle with my radio, or other gadget while driv...

Re: WaveGain Vs Audacity Effect "Amplify"

Yes, it is true I am only concerned at this point in my WAV files. And I am not sold only on Audacity to change the loudness of the music. I am happy to use WaveGain. In fact for what I am doing it is quite a bit faster. My questions are more pointed to having the most precise reproduction of the fi...

WaveGain Vs Audacity Effect "Amplify"

Hi All, Audacity 2.1.2 I am trying to set up some rules I can use to convert my WAV library to FLAC. Maybe this isn't really a question for Audacity board but I don't know where else to turn. I have made 3 copies of the same file then WaveGain analyzed two of the 3 matching files, for instance 3 cop...

Re: Audacity`s Green Bars discussion please

Hi stevethefiddle; Thanks for taking time to get back to me. I said 1.3 but meant -1.3 of course. I`m curious, why not have the darker green on the signal bar as the first color if it is the average signal? I had presumed the opposite circumstance regarding the bar`s colors as I now see them. Now th...

Audacity`s Green Bars discussion please

Hello Again All; I have an analog turntable/stereo from which I am importing my LP`s to Audacity for it`s help. Going through my sound card enables me to adjust the input signal balance and volume which is a good thing because my stereo has a natural bias to the right channel. I assume it is best fo...

Re: Can record LP in 1.3.7 but not 1.3.11

Okay stevethefiddle: Thank You, Thank You, for asking me the right question. When I started looking at the Record Device options on version 1.3.11 I noticed I had selected Realtek HD Digital Input instead of Realtek HD Audio Input. So there was a loose nut between the floor and the mouse. I w...

Can record LP in 1.3.7 but not 1.3.11

Hello All; I am having trouble using Audacity on Win XPSP3. I can`t record LP`s. I have Realtek sound on a Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P and it is multibooted with XP SP2 and Audacity 1.3.7 on one partition and XP SP3 and Audacity 1.3.11 on another partition. The dot 7 version with SP2 will record LP`s ju...

Re: when amplifying, does recording degrade?

kozikowski: Thanks for the reply. I`m not sure why this stereo does the lower-left channel thing but the music sounds clear and crisp and when the sound waves are zoomed in on they appear the same in fidelity as the right channel. Nevertheless this is what I have to work with. I 'normalized' a recor...
