Screencast: Creating Sound Effects with Audacity
Hello all, I am involved with some local groups that produce audio theater, both as podcasts and as live re-creations of classic radio scripts. If you've ever heard of Second Shift (http://www.secondshiftpodcast.com), I produced most of it using Audacity. Mastering an hour-long audio drama is admitt...

Re: Audacity exports empty wav/mp3/etc
Thanks very much for taking the time to investigate this! I hope it leads to sorting out whatever bug this is in case someone else runs into it.

Re: Audacity exports empty wav/mp3/etc
Ok, I've got the file hosted here now: http://www.secondshiftpodcast.com/tmp/SecondShift-2.14.02.zip Also, I tried starting the scene over and just imported the voice tracks (no SFX). To be sure things were working I exported them to a .wav directly after import... and it still created a wav of the ...

Re: Audacity exports empty wav/mp3/etc
I am running version 1.3.12. Most of the input files are audio we'd recorded ourselves in Audacity, though a couple of them use files from freesound and other sources. Unfortunately my server, which is sitting in my living room, appears to be down after a power outage, and I'm out of town until Satu...

Audacity exports empty wav/mp3/etc
I use audacity for post-production on an audio theater podcast called Second Shift. I'm trying to master our latest episode, and a couple (though not all) of the scenes are showing some weird problems when I export them. The export produces either an empty wav or one that cuts to silence partway thr...

Recording with multiple USB mics
Ok, I am probably exposing my ignorance of audio hardware here, but I've been wondering something: I'd like to put together a setup for simple voice-only recording (audio dramas and maybe some singing). In the past I've worked with groups that plugged the mics into a mixing board that was then conne...

Re: Only two tracks with Delta 44
Using other software (eg Adobe Audition), it records four distinct tracks just fine, and when I boot the system into a linux-on-cd distro like puredyne, audacity records four distinct tracks there as well.

Re: Only two tracks with Delta 44
So, I've messed around with it a bit more, and I've got a clearer idea of what's up, but I'm still stuck. There are options for "Input 1/2" and "Input 3/4". Not surprisingly, these each get two of the mics. The default option for input is labeled "MME: Microsoft Sound Mapper: Input", and I would gue...

Only two tracks with Delta 44
Hello,
I am using Audacity 1.3.4 under WinXP with an M-Audio Delta 44. Audacity gives me several options for input device in the preferences, but they none of them give me all four inputs. The most I can get is two. Does anyone have any ideas what else I might need to do?

Re: Padding timeshifted tracks for export?
Replying and hopefully bumping for some more feedback. (EDIT: apologies to kozikowski, I upon re-reading your response, I see what you're getting at when you talk about muting and compositing-- still, bumping in the hopes that there's an easier way...) Exporting composite isn't what I'm going for. W...
