Update---I managed to clear all remnants of Audacity, then started over with the downloading of 1.2.6 . But every time I try to pull it up from Programs, it only registers on my tool bar on the bottom of the screen. Clicking on it on the tool bar doesn't bring it up, it just changes shades. I installed Audacity 1.2.6. When I went to Programs(on my comp) and hit audacity, a gray popup appeared but it froze my computer and I had an hourglass icon for a pointer.
