Silence inserted at start of file
Windows 7, Audacity 2.0.5, installed from the .exe I'm editing a sound effect MP3 that needs to play with no delay. But when I export it Audacity seems to insert .05 secs of silence at the front. That doesn't seem like much, but the sound is just a brief click, so the delay is noticeable. I edit the...

Re: Save Project As... dialog box
Below the window that lets you type in a reply you should see "Upload attachment". Click on that, then fill in the name of your image file or find it using Browse; much like attaching to an email.

Wave Out Mix
When I record from Wave Out Mix, like the playback from Finale, what am I capturing? Is it the original digital format from Finale's sample libraries, or has the sound card already converted that to an analog signal, which Audacity has to reconvert to digital (with some presumed loss of fidelity)? I...

1.3.8 C++ runtime error
I've tried twice to install 1.3.8: first on top of 1.3.7, then after de-installing and deleting everything and starting blank. Both times, when I try to run Audacity it churns for a while with no visible window, then I get this cryptic error. After I reply, audacity.exe is still running, but doing n...

Re: Is it possible to change pitch without affecting tempo?
Wait, I don't understand. I've used Effect->Change Pitch many times, and never noticed that the time or tempo was affected.

Re: Speed of playback
Any chance you're pressing Play-at-speed (the green arrow next to the slider) instead of Play (the big button on the control toolbar)? Is the speed slider all the way to the right, i.e. 3 x normal speed?

Re: Record audio from internal DVD player?
What options do you see in the drop-down box in the upper right (microphone, line in, etc.)?

Re: slow down audacity playback to isolate sound
The Effect menu lets you Change Tempo, which slows playback without changing pitch. I don't know how much fidelity you lose if you slow down a track, then use the same effect to speed it up again.

Re: Record audio from internal DVD player?
I don't have a DVD drive, so I can't test this. But have you tried setting Audacity to record from Wave Out Mix? I'm just speculating that this will be the audio from your DVD.

Re: Cutting a section from each track
If I understand your question, the solution is to size the window and the height of all tracks so that they are all visible at once, then select the same range of each track by swiping across all of them with your mouse button down.
