Re: ECHO WHEN RECORDING FROM ARCHIVED FILE

IT WORKED!! Steve The Fiddle, nice job, thanks! Question: Do I ever need to have the Software Playthrough box checked? I use Audacity to: convert cassette tapes to .wav files, record archived audio files in Windows Media Player (like I described in my "help" message above) and also record ...

ECHO WHEN RECORDING FROM ARCHIVED FILE

I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows XP3, and I'm using Audacity 1.2.6. I'm trying to use Audacity to record an archived audio file from a radio station's website - using Windows Media Player (the default player for this particular radio station's archived audio files). I have a high-speed cable to ...

Re: SOLUTION: SOUND BLEEDS FROM ONE CASSETTE TRACK TO ANOTHE

Koz, thanks again for your help. Here's what the problem was: Audacity was multi-tracking without me wanting it to! I asked another techie (much smarter than me) who has some experience with Audacity, and the first thing he asked me was "When you started to record the second (and third) song of...

Re: SOUND BLEEDS FROM ONE CASSETTE TRACK TO ANOTHER

Koz, thank you very much for replying. Here's what I did: Recorded the first song, saved it as a .wav file, and stored it in "My Music " folder. Then, I turned the tape over to side two and recorded the first of the three songs I wanted on that side, stopped Audacity right when the first s...

SOUND BLEEDS FROM ONE CASSETTE TRACK TO ANOTHER

I had posted this problem on another thread title (WON'T LET ME EXPORT & SAVE AS .WAV IN WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER) but this problem seemed so bizarre I thought it might need it's own thread topic. Here it is: I recorded one song from side one of a cassette tape. It recorded & played back perfect...

Re: WON'T LET ME EXPORT & SAVE AS .WAV IN WINDOWS MEDIA PLAY

I solved the playback problem (I needed to set Audacity to record with the Edirol device in Audio I/O preferences, but play back with the built-in computer sound card device)..........and it worked. I thought I was home free! But yet another problem cropped up, here it is: I recorded one song (only)...

Re: WON'T LET ME EXPORT & SAVE AS .WAV IN WINDOWS MEDIA PLAY

Steve, those are exactly what my settings are, but it still doesn't have sound on playback. Just in case, I downloaded some cd tracks directly to My Music from Windows Media Player, and Windows Media Player has no problems playing those back (but the cd files show Windows Media Audio File, not .wav ...

Re: WON'T LET ME EXPORT & SAVE AS .WAV IN WINDOWS MEDIA PLAY

OK, I figured out how to export as a .wav file.......and I saved it as a .wav in My Music. But when I want to play it back, there is no sound in Windows Media Player. Windows Media Player recogonizes the file, but there's no sound on playback. I tried playing it back using my Edirol and also with my...

WON'T LET ME EXPORT & SAVE AS .WAV IN WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER

I have audacity 1.2.6 on my Windows XP Pro laptop. I just purchased the Edirol UA-1EX external sound card (thanks Waxcylinder!) and now my sound is great using Audacity. But........Audacity is saving my files as .aup. I'm having trouble saving as a .wav and exporting as a .wav to my Windows Media Pl...

Re: EXTERNAL SOUND CARD ADVICE BEFORE PURCHASE

I think I want to go with the Edirol UA-1EX, partly because the Behringer isn't distributed in the US (I looked on their website-didn't see the US listed a a distribution point). My local dealer doesn't have the Edirol in stock, he will have to order it. I'm not an experienced techie, and I'm willin...
