Re: how to reduce bits and sample rates after recording?
Thanks for responding. I tried what you said, and I can't get it to work. I was trying to change the original project. Should I first export to WAV and then reduce the WAV file? I can't reduce the original project file? First I changed it in the wrong place and got distortion (voice very low and slo...

Re: can't find cause of intermittant noise on playback
I have a USB condenser microphone that I can use on the Mac. I bought it for the PC, but it will work on either. It's a Samson C01U. I got it refurbished at J&R so it was pretty cheap. It came with a nice little desk stand and the sound quality is great.

Re: can't find cause of intermittant noise on playback
I went over the J&R and looked at USB sound cards. Then I casually mentioned that I had a Mac, in addition to the PC, and both sales people stared at me open-mouthed and said, "You have a Mac and you're using a PC for music... why??" They said that the sound hardware (and other hardware) on a Mac is...

Is the only solution a desktop computer? I don't have room for one.

Not sure - whatever is inside a Thinkpad T400. Do you know of problems with specific sound cards?

Re: can't find cause of intermittant noise on playback
The noise (not necessarily the under water thing) happens when I play Audacity projects - not MP3. Also when I played a Daily Show clip on the internet. This is the professional clip I was referring to. I was trying to watch an interview and the noise in the audio was very irritating. I'm sure it wa...

No reply? Not possible? That's a showstopper for me.
Any advice on audio software with this feature? I need to change programs.

Re: can't find cause of intermittant noise on playback
I'm trying record an audio version of my book, so I'm noticing it when I play that back. It's happening before I do any noise reduction. Also, it happens on files I did not record - that's what I meant about professional files that I know are clean. So I know it's a playback problem, and not related...

how to reduce bits and sample rates after recording?
Is there a way I can reduce the bits and sample rate of something I've already recorded? I can't see a way to do it. The exported MP3 file is gigantic and it's only about 6 minutes of audio.
Thanks.
Thanks.
