Good idea! I'm only aware of metadata...
WAVE (or RIFF) even supports to add playlist chunks so you can play parts of the audio in the wav out of order.

read markers, regions & lables from WAV files

There is a lot of other data besides the sound bytes that can be stored in a wave file. When I just open one in Audacity these data do not show. It kind of surprised me as Audacity offers these features in the editor / tracks. Is there a way to read, import them? I'm especially interested in the cue...

There isn't yet a published AUP3 specification.
Comming back at this now v3 is published. Is there a full spec? Or, is there a file that uses all possible features?
Poking at the aup3 it looks as if it is not fully self explaining. MagicNumbers for sampleformat for example.

It is the default "host" for Audacity on Windows because it is so widely supported (at least for mono / stereo).
Thanks Steve. I changed the title(s) of my post to ... MME.

Cheers.

I assume that you know that DirectSound is a deprecated software component of the Microsoft DirectX library?
I understood it is or was and that it is emulated nowadays. Is MME deprecated too?

Cheers.

Multitrack for Windows MME?

Just as a question, why don't we have multi track recording for Windows DirectSound in Audacity? EDIT: Windows DirectSound and/or MME As Audacity is based on PortAudio, I wrote a python script[1] to test a few things. It uses the sounddevice library that is based on PortAudio. Hooked up a few device...

Re: -9997 Invalid Sample Rate

When I try to record I am getting error -9997. I'm using Audacity 2.4.2 on Windows 10 with Behringuer UMC1820 (Windows WASAPI mode) for both input and output. Sample rate: 32mb, Freq: 48000Hz. Same with every project rate. Im trying to record six simultaneous tracks. No other programs are running. ...

Re: My 16 biggest annoyances with Audacity (and the solutions)

I would say that this is unlikely to happen. One of the developers has long been interested in a redesign of the Track Control Panel - byt it is a LOT more radical than your suggestion. The old channel strip analogy at the bottom of the screen is still what works best I think. It can be compact by ...

Re: My 16 biggest annoyances with Audacity (and the solutions)

Regarding 12&13 Select the to be copied part and then duplicate the track? ctrl-D. It gives a new track with the selected part copied in. To me it is obvious that a new track comes below everything else. When a part on a track is selected it could be useful to just see the the border lines on all ot...

There is a mailing list for blind Audacity users here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audac ... ling_lists
Thanks for that. Pointed friend there, she mostly uses Sox and ecasound.

Cheers!
