Thanks for the advice.

I'm only producing my second book for Audible through ACX. But I have to say that this forum, more than any other I found for narrators on the internet, was by far the most useful in finding out how to record and produce audio files at a level which would be acceptable to Audible. Here, there are kn...

I'm not dismissing it out of hand. You can match your speaking style with the material. There is nothing like the Mark Twain stories read in a region appropriate accent. I've finally got one book up on audible, which was set in America, but the author was happy with my accent and "burr". This won't...

Re: ACX-Check

Yes, I do wear headphones when recording, and try to keep the performance even. Not knowing the parameters, as I say, it might be me just being overly picky of my own work. I hope it is. Certainly my guinea pig listeners didn't notice it, but that means little. Oh well, will know when it comes back ...

Re: ACX-Check

Their automated loudness measurement is more sophisticated than our ACX Check plug-in, in that it automatically removes long silences prior to measuring. It also checks that the loudness is reasonably consistent throughout the file, whereas our plug-in just takes an average measurement. Their "robo...

Re: Have tried declickers but still have some

In short, everything that can be automatically checked without a human. You can check Peak, RMS, and Noise at home with ACX-Check. If you're in the recommended mono (one blue wave) instead of stereo, you won't have channel mixing problems. Absolutely. I think the ACX check on Audacity is better, as...

Re: Have tried declickers but still have some

To ACX? I thought they stopped allowing sample submissions. There is a relatively new automatic Audio Lab function on ACX where you can upload a file and it automatically checks for "RMS, peak levels, bitrate, bitrate method, sample rate, mixed channels, and duplicate files." It doesn't check floor...

Re: Producing first audiobook, noise levels and consistency.

Thanks for that, as always. Oh, it's a novel I'm producing the book for a Real Author, who is selling her stuff on Amazon through kindle and paperback, and has other books of hers up on Audible, so I should be ok on that point, thanks. There do seem to be a lot of scams out there on ACX unfortunatel...

Producing first audiobook, noise levels and consistency.

After a lot of help from this forum, I'm producing my first audiobook on ACX. Anyway, I'm easily able to get the recordings within the parameters demanded by ACX, passing the ACX analysis on Audacity, passing the test on ACX itself - but realise this by no means guarantees it will be okayed by ACX w...

Re: Complete ignoramus re audio stuff, trying to do audio books. Part 1

I disappeared without saying thank you, so - well, thank you. I've come on a bit since the above, with the advice that everyone (especially kozikowski) gave. I invested in a Yeti microphone, and am using a Bush Tablet Thing running windows, along with a "usb to little phone socket thing" converter, ...
