Thanks for replying! I did download the latest Lame, right after I downloaded Audacity 1.3.7, so I think there must be some other explanation. That's why I was asking if there was any source for downloading the 1.3.6 .exe file again (and the appropriate older Lame version if necessary) so I could go...
