Re: Renumber Lables

Say you have a load of labels and you want to name them: 1, 2, 3, 4.... Open "Edit Labels" Double click on the label text of the first label Type: 1 Press "Enter" Press "F2" ... For some reason my system doesn't need the F2. Enter first/enter/second/enter etc. does it. Thats still some 24 keystorke...

Re: Renumber Lables

You may get better results with the new "Label Sounds" tool in Audacity 3.0.0: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/label_sounds.html The "Threshold measurement:" setting has an option for "Average level" which makes it less sensitive to pops and crackles. Since I primarily use it as the final step ...

Re: Migration from 2.3.2 to 3.0

I do use Normalization, and have updated my main macro to use Loudness Normalization instead. Note that "Loudness Normalization" does NOT guarantee the peak level. Some songs can have a much higher peak level than others that are the same "loudness", so you have to allow plenty of headroom to avoid...

Renumber Lables

I primarily use Audacity to capture and record vinyl albums, cassettes, 8-tracks, and even sometimes the audio output from Laserdiscs. If I have a noisy recording, I often end up with a random number of labels after running Sound Finder. I then set about moving the labels, deleting labels that are n...

Re: Migration from 2.3.2 to 3.0

Thanks, I specifically don't use equalization in macros, so I can test with different settings, usually based on the quality of the vinyl per album. I do use Normalization, and have updated my main macro to use Loudness Normalization instead. It seems to be pretty good so far. I'm going to use the b...

Re: generation quality loss in MP3

"(quality depends on the source: best from old CDs, not so best when I record from YouTube (I use Audacity recorder, and record as WAV) " I post recordings on youtube of jazz music, my channel is ctproduced. The problem recording from Youtube is they have already applied a set of filters to the soun...

Re: Migration from 2.3.2 to 3.0

Thanks. Yes, I stayed at 2.3.2 to continue to use the Equalization effects/curves rather than upgrade and re-invent as need in 2.3.3.

I've done all the backups as suggested, thanks so much. I'll do the upgrade to 3.0 and see how it works out. Thank you again!

Migration from 2.3.2 to 3.0

I did my best to check around, but is there an upgrade or migration guide from 2.3 to 3.0? I avoided upgrading after having problems with the 2.3 changes to equalization, macros etc. but now have time to update and re-learn how to achieve the same results. My primary use of audacity is digitizing vi...

Re: GAIN vs Amplify vs Compressors (Vinyl vs DVD)

Thanks for the thoughtful answer. No, I ripped all the CD's straight to digital :) For the vinyl albums, I record using Audacity, using a PS Audio Phone Nuwave Convertor to do the analog to digital, it connects to a computer using USB. Audacity reads the USB using WASPI under Windows 10. Once both s...

GAIN vs Amplify vs Compressors (Vinyl vs DVD)

[ Background: I'm on a kick to make digital copies of my entire vinyl collection, about 2,700 albums. I've already done about 700 CD's. I've almost exclusively used Audacity over the past 3-years and am still working on it. I get as many 12 vinyl albums done per week, so it's going to take a while :...
