Re: macro for batch converting multiple mp3 files to m4a
That will be a welcome addition to Audacity. That feature is just about the only reason I broke down and paid for Audition.

Re: macro for batch converting multiple mp3 files to m4a
Thanks for kindly checking out the effects of those settings. I appreciate you characterizing my question as a good one. I wasn't sure. After reading your last post, I converted a batch of 12 mp3 files to m4a with Apply ReplayGain unchecked and the following preset selected: AAC - 320kbps - Stereo -...

Re: macro for batch converting multiple mp3 files to m4a
Thanks very much for the tip. I've downloaded and installed it. I just have one question before I start, if you know the answer, please. To leave the file volume settings alone during the conversion, should I just uncheck Apply ReplayGain in Settings? Other than that, it's straightforward. I appreci...

macro for batch converting multiple mp3 files to m4a
I am using the Windows 10 OS (Build 18362) and Audacity 2.3.3 (build date Nov 15, 2019). If I take them one file at a time, it is easy to convert from mp3 to m4a with Audacity. However, I have been unable thus far to write a macro to convert multiple mp3 files to m4a. When setting up the macro, ther...

Macro Steps for Normalizing Multiple M4A Files
I am writing about using the 'Normalize -1dB' macro to operate on all 31 M4A files in a directory. I used the 'Manage Macros' dialogue (under Tools/Macros...) to set it up. I added 'Normalize -1dB' to the 'Select Macro' window. In the 'Edit Steps' window I used three steps as follows: 01 Normalize -...

Re: Unable to Import m4a Files / Have installed avformat-55.dll [SOLVED]
Problem solved.
It requires very careful concentration to make sense out of the instructions, but when you, they work.
Sorry to bother you. Chalk this up to cockpit error.

I did that too. Following the posted instructions doesn't help because that procedure does not lead the user to a copy of avformat-55.dll.

m4a No Longer Supported by Audacity
When did Audacity end support of m4a files?
None of the published methods for getting Audacity to import m4a files work any longer.
I am forced to use someone else's software.

Unable to Import m4a Files / Have installed avformat-55.dll [SOLVED]
I just installed Audacity 2.3.0 this evening on my Windows 10 (Home) machine. I downloaded avformat-55.dll from the Internet and placed it in the following folder, which I made: C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity\FFmpeg I re-started Audacity and went into Edit/Preferences/Libraries to tell the program ...
