Re: When recording multiple tracks, Audacity re-records all!
I looked into that, actually. It's not that, I don't believe - the headphones are not ever at a volume where the mic could pick them up. It's simply that what Audacity is sending back out to me to hear while I overdub is being recorded as well as the new stuff. I bought two Hosa DOC 106 cables - the...

Re: When recording multiple tracks, Audacity re-records all!
Ok - I found the source of the problem. When I turn down the CD/TAPE volume on my mixer, Audacity no longer records the "ghost" track of the previous tracks that I am listening to. This has been the problem all along - being able to listen to the previously recorded tracks while recording the new on...

Here is the mixer I am using, just to give you an idea of all of the functions available to me:

Re: When recording multiple tracks, Audacity re-records all!
I need the mixer to record with - I often record several "sources" at once (say, a drum set that needs to be mic'd with four mics), and the mixer is the only way to take those sources and convert them into something Audacity can record. And I used to use the headphone jack on the PC tower, but I had...

Re: When recording multiple tracks, Audacity re-records all!
The UCA200 does show up in both the Windows Control Panel and Audacity. And I downloaded and installed the latest drivers for it three days ago. I can hear playback from Audacity through the UCA200. That's how it works - that way I can use the mixer's headphone jack to monitor the recording going on...

Re: When recording multiple tracks, Audacity re-records all!
I have Windows XP, but I'm afraid all of my settings in the Control Panel are correct according to that article. It's just that each time I record a new track, it re-records all the other tracks with it as well. Could this be a problem that's being caused by the mixer's settings, and not Audacity?

When recording multiple tracks, Audacity re-records all!
Hi everyone! Finally got my home studio up and running, and I can't wait to use this wonderful program. I just have one problem to lick, and I was wondering if any of you could help! When I record multiple tracks on Audacity, each "new" track I record copies the audio from every other track playing!...

Re: Need help with Behringer UCA200 and Audacity
The headphones are plugged into the "Phons/Ctrl" jack on the Mixer. And the UCA200 does not have a power supply independent of what it derives from the PC. My PC has two USB jacks. I've tried both of them with no success.

Re: Need help with Behringer UCA200 and Audacity
<<<UCA200 USB>>> <<<the monitor/headphone volume was extremely low, and had a steady bit of white noise in the background.>>> This screams USB connection failure. Change the cable and plug it into a different connection in the computer. Koz The USB cable is part of the UCA200 unit. Are you suggesti...

Re: Need help with Behringer UCA200 and Audacity
UPDATE: I just reversed the RCA cables from the UCA200 to the 1222FX mixer; now I can "see" the audio coming into Audacity, but everything is MUCH quieter. I cannot hear the new track, and the previous tracks are extremely low. Like from a car radio two streets over (laughs). All of Windows' volume ...
