Re: Noise reduction in sections of a track

Another note on that long process. Noise Reduction was used to gently reduce noise between words so when the gate comes along, it doesn't have as much critical work to do and is less likely to damage words and the spaces between them. That's good to know. I have been using them in that order anyway...

Re: Noise reduction in sections of a track

All Amplify knows is that somewhere in your hour long presentation, one tiny bit of blue wave was higher than all the others and it latches on that as the reference for the whole show. If that one little wave happened to be noise, then it will push the desired voice into the mud to accommodate that...

Re: Noise reduction in sections of a track

This sequence of tools is very effective so far. I have just found one horrible track where it made a bad situation worse; what I (so far) found most effective was to skip most of the tools, fool around with noise gate, & just suppress everything in the silent gaps like before. Maybe I'll post a sma...

Re: Noise reduction in sections of a track

I don't see an amplify->goal option, or an effect->hum remover
What version of audacity is this, or are these special plugins or?
Thanks, ==mwh

Re: Noise reduction in sections of a track

That sounds pretty good to me. Boosting the voice is (usually) one of the things I have to do with this material. This sounds better than what I have been managing. I'd like to apply this recipe on some longer silent tracks & some of the bad quality tapes & see what more can be done. Please post the...

Re: Noise reduction in sections of a track

I applied Noise Reduction with the defaults 12 6 3
Thanks, but I know how to do that.

That's not the solution to the problem I pose.

Re: Noise reduction in sections of a track

Audacity 3.02 on Windows 10 I have encountered the "uncanny valley" feeling of having all the sound gone, but it's better than the buzz. Even the ability to select multiple segments & then apply the same NR to them would be a big work flow improvement. As far as coding goes, I was wondering if somet...

Noise reduction in sections of a track

I have an on-going audio digitization project. The material has noise reduction issues. I'm looking for ways to simplify the handwork. This material is old, but valuable. Most of the recordings have a lot of hum and noise - nowhere near enough to make it unlistenable, but annoying. It's easy to make...
